✅ 12 boneless skinless chicken breasts(chopped bit sizes)
✅ 1.5 cups soy sauce
✅ 3 Tbsp. olive oil
✅ 1.5 tsp. sesame oil
✅ 3 tsp. ground ginger
✅ 6 tsp. minced garlic
✅ 1.5 cup water
✅ 9 Tbsp. packed light brown sugar
✅ 6 Tbsp. rice vinegar
✅ 6 Tbsp. honey
✅ 9 tsp. cornstarch
✅ sesame seeds, and chopped green onions for garnish
✅ rice for serving,
✅ steamed veggies for serving
Instructions
📌 First of all, Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat.
📌 Then, add cubed chicken and brown chicken until cooked through and it is no longer pink.
📌 While the Chicken is browning, prepare your teriyaki sauce! In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch.
📌 Once the Chicken is browned and cooked through, add your homemade teriyaki sauce to your skillet and continue to cook, stirring until the sauce has thickened.
📌 Serve immediately with rice and vegetables of your choice. Add some sesame seeds and green onions on top
Pro Tips
- The sesame oil is optional in this teriyaki chicken recipe. I’ve made it without, and it tastes just as delicious. If you still want a hint of sesame, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the bowl. This also adds a nice crunch!
- Cut chicken into evenly bite-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
- Be careful not to overcook the chicken. You don’t want it to dry out and become tough.
- You can season your chicken with black pepper before browning, but I wouldn’t recommend adding salt.
- Allow the oil to get hot in your skillet before adding your chicken. This will give your chicken a nice sear.
